Ecommerce Catalog Stores

A full catalog store. Same plugin. Running today.

The same North Commerce plugin that powers single-product sales pages runs your full catalog: SKUs, variants, inventory, shipping zones, discount codes, collection pages, search. Everything built in — no add-ons, no second checkout tool, no second platform.

Who this page is for

You’re past one product.

Maybe you started with a Notion template and now you have eight. Maybe you sell physical goods — candles, prints, apparel — and you’re done watching Etsy take 6.5% of every sale on a platform you don’t own. Maybe you have a course business with three tiers, a workbook, two coaching packages, and a recorded workshop, and you need a real store page instead of a wall of buy buttons.

Most platforms force a choice: a simple checkout tool that breaks at scale, or a full ecommerce platform that starts at $39/mo and hits $150–400/mo once you’ve stacked the apps you actually need.

North does both from one plugin. Same site. No migration.

Honest limits

What you won’t get.

If any of these is core to your business, Shopify is the right tool — and we’ll say so. Here’s exactly what a North catalog store doesn’t do:

Multi-warehouse inventory routing — single location in V1
Real-time carrier rate quotes — no live UPS / USPS / FedEx API
Built-in POS for in-person sales — online store only
A giant app marketplace — no 8,000+ third-party apps
Native dropshipping integrations — no Oberlo-style sourcing
International duty & tariff calculation — use a forwarder

North is built for catalog stores doing $1K–$50K/mo — single location, real inventory, real variants, on a site you own. If that’s you, the rest of this page is for you.

What you get

Everything a real catalog store needs. Nothing that becomes a recurring app subscription.

All of this ships inside the North Commerce plugin. No add-ons. No marketplace. No second checkout tool.

01 · CATALOG

Product pages that sell, not just list

Rich descriptions, image galleries, video, reviews, FAQs. Pages render in the North editor — the same editor you use for everything else on your site. Your product page is a real marketing page. Not a stripped storefront template you can’t fully control.

02 · VARIANTS

Variants, handled properly

Sizes, colors, formats, materials, tiers. Each variant gets its own price, SKU, inventory count, image, and weight. No workarounds. No artificial variant limits based on your plan.

03 · INVENTORY

Inventory tracking per variant — so you never oversell

Stock counts, “Only 3 left” badges, sold-out blocks, low-stock email alerts, CSV bulk-update. Your inventory lives in North. You stop tracking it in a spreadsheet.

04 · SHIPPING

Shipping zones that charge what shipping actually costs

Define rates by region — country, state, ZIP range. Flat, per-item, weight-based, free-over-$X, or free on certain products. Stop eating margin on orders that ship across the country.

05 · DISCOUNTS

Discount codes that cover every promotion you actually run

Percentage, fixed, BOGO, free shipping, cart-level minimums, date-windowed, single-use or unlimited, stackable or exclusive. Your email list promo, your seasonal sale, your bundle offer — no dedicated discount app required.

06 · COLLECTIONS

Collections + search — for stores with more than ten products

Group products into categories, “New,” “Best Sellers,” or a holiday gift guide. Each gets its own URL on your domain. Buyers find what they’re looking for without scrolling through everything you’ve ever made.

07 · CART

Cart + multi-product checkout

Buyers add items, apply a discount, see shipping options, and check out — using the same Creator Checkout that powers single-product pages. One checkout engine, both store shapes.

08 · ACCOUNTS

Customer accounts that give buyers a reason to come back

Past orders, digital downloads, shipment tracking, re-order. Optional — guest checkout works too. Either way, repeat buyers self-serve without emailing you.

How North compares

North vs. Shopify vs. Woo — same job, three shapes.

We’re not trying to replace either. The ✗ marks in the North column are intentional — we’d rather lose the sale than refund it.

Choose Shopify if you need POS, multi-warehouse, or a giant app marketplace. Choose WooCommerce if you have a developer and love full control. Choose North if you want a catalog store running today, on a site you own, without becoming your own IT department.

Charter pricing

Catalog is not an add-on. It ships with the plugin.

No separate plan. No usage cap. No per-SKU fee. The first 100 hosted stores get Charter Pricing — $199 for year one (under $0.55/day), then $79/mo. Self-host the WordPress plugin for $199/yr.

$199 year one. Same plugin. Your rate locks.

Charter customers get the full catalog feature set at the introductory rate. After year one, $79/mo — renew early and your charter rate locks for year two.

FAQ

Common questions.

Yes — same plugin. Creator Checkout is the embeddable checkout for one-off pages and links; the Ecommerce Catalog is the full storefront — product pages, variants, inventory, search, and collections. You can run both from the same North install.
Yes. The catalog store and standalone Creator Checkout pages live in the same plugin and the same site. Sell your full collection from your shop, and drop a single-product checkout anywhere you need one — one dashboard, one Stripe account.
No. North runs on WordPress without any WooCommerce dependency, so there’s nothing to import. If you’re coming from Woo, you rebuild your catalog on North and point your domain over when you’re ready — your Stripe customers and CSV exports come with you.
North calculates tax automatically through Stripe Tax — US sales tax and EU/UK VAT at the correct rate per location. It does not act as a marketplace facilitator or file returns for you; if you have multi-jurisdiction filing needs, pair it with your accountant or a tool like TaxJar.
Yes — two ways out, both built in. Your Stripe account is in your name from day one, so your customers stay with you, and your catalog and customer list export as CSV anytime. The $199/yr self-host plugin runs the same store on your own server, so you can leave hosting without rebuilding.
Yes. The catalog blocks carry their own scoped styles, so they render consistently on top of most WordPress themes without fighting your theme’s CSS. Drop them into your current site, or run the bundled layout as-is.
The catalog is built for real-but-focused stores — comfortably into the low hundreds of SKUs with variants. It’s not an enterprise PIM for tens of thousands of SKUs or multi-warehouse catalogs; if that’s you, see the Honest Limits above.
